A DIY project I did at my new apartment that I'm really happy with and wanted to share how I did it. Enjoy!

When I moved in to my new rental, the fridge that came with the apartment looked very small in the fridge alcove area and had a huge gap that was great to store the broom and the floor mop but, aesthetically, looked bad. As i mentioned in my other blogs, I don’t like seeing things that are not meant to be seen. I’m a big fan of clean looks with minimum clutter.
I started looking for those narrow cabinets on wheels that are meant for that purpose but they were somewhat expensive and the measurements didn’t work with my space.
I like DIY projects and I’m pretty crafty so I started drawing the cabinet I wanted to have, basing it on what I found online and tweaking it for my storage purposes. I then measured the gap, where I wanted to place the cabinet.
I didn’t want to build it from scratch, because i’m not a carpenter, so it had to be an existing furniture that I could turn into a cabinet. And that’s when i had a light bulb moment! Bookcases are narrow and tall, exactly what I needed. Just needed to take out some shelves, add wheels and that’s it!

I love how it turned out, you barely notice it’s there.

Few important tips:
Make sure to measure the gap correctly, leaving couple of inches of space from the fridge and the wall.

The frame of the bookcase, without all the shelves could be wobbly so make sure to use corner brackets to stabilize the frame.

If the sides of the cabinet are two parts of wood plates, like mine was, you would want to use metal flat plate in the middle to stabilize the sides. I used a small one but I actually would have used a bigger and longer one to stabilize the frame even more.
